The Early Years Toolbox (EYT) Card Sorting task for iPad provides an assessment of cognitive flexibility in young children, specifically measuring their ability to disengage from one task or rule and re-engage with another. During this activity, children are presented with images of rabbits and boats that vary along two dimensions: shape and colour. They are instructed to sort these items first by one dimension (e.g., colour) and subsequently by another (e.g., shape). The task typically requires approximately five minutes to complete.

Results are displayed on a final assessment screen, with options available for exporting item-level data via email or integration into a database for more detailed analysis. Additional resources, including training videos and analytical tools, can be accessed at http://www.eytoolbox.com.au.
